words that heal writing workshop

“I have always believed, and still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.” - Herman Hesse

words that heal writing workshop

DESCRIPTION:

It’s been scientifically proven that writing our stories is good for our health. It helps us sort through difficult feelings, admit things we’re afraid to say out loud and find renewed purpose and beauty in the journey of our lives. Words That Heal is based on the idea that the power of words can change the direction of our lives. In this three-hour session, you will engage in self-discovery and storytelling exercises to discover new pathways to your own inner wisdom.  You will come away with tools for your writing practice that deepen your self-awareness and expand your perspective. This course presents creative ways to heal your relationship with words from three angles — thought, memory and imagination.

The Words that Heal Writing Workshop will help you:

  • Practice storytelling as a creative path to healing

  • Understand the relationship between your thoughts, beliefs, emotions and actions

  • Practice self-honesty to move toward a more fully expressed life

  • Discover the personal myths and stories you tell yourself that keep you in self-limiting patterns

  • Elevate your personal narrative and stop speaking against yourself

  • Apply a healing narrative to your memories and empower the way you imagine your future

  • Explore more uninhibited thought and expression to reveal your authentic voice

The way we talk about ourselves impacts our ability to heal and the quality of our lives.

FOR WRITERS OF ALL LEVELS

My workshops attract writers of all levels who:

… are particularly interested in deep reflection, creative self-discovery, and personal narrative.

… want to be more fully expressed in their lives but are uncertain about how writing can help them achieve that.

… have stories they want to tell and ideas they want to share in a creative, supportive environment.

… want to stop holding in and holding out for the ‘perfect’ words and start writing from the heart.

"I really enjoyed the Words that Heal class. GG challenged us to not judge our writing; but to simply just write and not to go back and change what we said. To go with the flow of what's in our hearts as we write. GG's Words that Heal class gives you a deeper perspective of yourself and mental self care awareness.

I really enjoyed connecting with GG and the other writers. Everyone was so pleasant, optimistic and upbeat. This writing class is a positive creative network for women. It was nice to read the other participants writing prompts and to see that everyone has a vision and that everyone is healing from something. I'm not alone. Words that Heal is therapy for the soul." - Brittany Ervin

TRUTHS ABOUT WRITING TO HEAL

Many of us are stuck in cycles of negative thought and memory, regrets about the past and worries about the future, leading to imaginations that scare us instead of inspiring us.

In Words That Heal, we explore the idea that when we release limiting narratives, we can expand our possibilities and change the momentum of our lives. We will also explore the following:

+ For many of us, our biggest coping mechanism is to hide from ourselves and when we do this, we end up with creative blocks.

+ Most of us underestimate the inherent power and personal wisdom that we carry with us through life. We can discover these gifts through self-discovery and storytelling.

+ When our hearts and minds contradict each other, we experience inner conflicts that prevent us from being fully expressed and moving through life with ease.

+ You can’t embrace new possibilities without imagining them first.

+ Writing about your feelings deepens self-awareness, releases difficult feelings, and improves overall well-being.

+ Writing stories about your life fuels your personal growth and serves as a creative path to healing.

writing to heal is a unique process of unlearning and reimagining that allows you to find new meaning in your life experiences.

MY APPROACH TO CREATIVE COACHING IS…

.. address the limiting beliefs and fears that are in the way, so the unique perspective that is already inside of you can be revealed and elevated.

… show you practical ways to infuse your unique writing voice into your current life, career, and social presence.

… provide a safe space for connection, inspiration, and accountability between writers.

Research has shown that creative well-being is influenced by our mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. It’s all connected. In my workshops, I present a holistic view of the creative process that includes self-discovery work, journaling techniques, self-care strategies, idea generation tools, and storytelling methods.
